Jester Platters

A long time ago, in a land far, far away, I developed an interest in court jesters. This has obviously breached my subconscious and my interest has come through into my ceramic designs. For this project, I have developed a decorative platter that incorporates ceramics with wire work. Made from stoneware, I have used gloss crackle glaze with accent swirled colours on these platters. On playful days, I have also made some cute mini unwired platters in the same style. On darker days I have made the mini ones in black clay. We use these platters as fruit bowls or as bread baskets, or sometimes I just leave one as a table centrepiece. There is always a place for the pranks of a jester in our lives...
